What is MOHE - MQA - JPA & MYQUEST

Students wish to enroll into Higher educational Institutions often came across the terms MQA, MOHE, JPA and MYQUEST. Let us give you a brief explanation on these.
What is MOHE approval?

MOHE is the short form for Ministry of Higher Education. Every programme offered by an Institution must be approved by MOHE. When an Institution receives the approval from MOHE to conduct the programme, they then can begin the enrolment of students. Every programme has its own reference code issued by MOHE. What is MQA Accreditation? MQA is the short form for Malaysian Qualification Agency. MQA is an official body that is governed by the Ministry of Higher Education, which main role is to ensure and regulate the quality of education provided by Private Higher Institutions in Malaysia are met the requirements set by MQA. When a course is fully accreditated by the MQA, it means that the government of Malaysia and education authorities recognize the validity of the course. All programmes that have received Full Accreditation will be listed in the Malaysia Qualifications Register (MQR). You may logon to MQA website for the list of accreditated programmes What if not fully accreditated or has Provisional Accreditation? All newly launched programmes by an Institution will receive Provisional Accreditation status which is issued by Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA) upon satisfying the first phase of requirements. Generally, a programme will be considered due for full accreditation when the first cohort students are at the final or 2nd last semester of the programme. This is when the MQA Panel Assessors will carry out the audit. Upon being satisfied that a particular programme has complied with all its (MQA) requirements, MQA will inform the institution that full accreditation has been granted to that particular programme. What is JPA recognition? JPA is the short form for Jabatan perkhidmatan awam. JPA recognition is required for graduates to be eligible for employment in all the government departments and statutory bodies. A search can be done at JPA’s website to check whether a programme is recognised by JPA. What is MyQuest Rating? MyQuest is a short form for Malaysian Quality Evaluation System. This is an awarding and evaluation body governed by Ministry of Higher Education to evaluate the Private Higher Institutions in terms of quality of higher education services by colleges, the quality of programmes delivered at colleges, and the readiness of the colleges to recruit international students. Upon assessment, Institutions will receive The MyQUEST star rating comprises a range of scores from 1 to 6. 6 is the highest score which defined as outstanding.
